PRACTICAL TECH HELP
Emails not arriving? Start with these checks
Before deleting and adding an email account again, check where the messages are missing. An email that appears in webmail but not on your laptop points you towards a different problem from one that never reaches the mailbox.
1. Check the mailbox in your browser
Go directly to your provider's official website and open webmail. For a Telstra or BigPond account, use Telstra's official sign-in page. Do not follow an unexpected email or text link asking you to confirm your password.
If recent messages appear there but not in your email app, note which app and device are affected. This helps narrow the investigation towards app settings, sign-in or synchronisation.
2. Look beyond the inbox
Search for the sender and check junk, spam and other folders. Review filters or forwarding settings you recognise. If only one person's emails are missing, ask them through another channel to confirm your address and whether they received a delivery error.
3. Check account messages
Look for storage-limit warnings, service notices or a sign-in prompt. Check your provider's support information if webmail itself is not working. Do not disable security protection or give a caller your verification codes to make email work.
Do not remove the account as your first step
Some messages may be stored only on the device. Before deleting an account, changing mail protocols or reinstalling the app, establish what is backed up. Note the exact error and when the problem started.
TechTrust can help with email setup and device troubleshooting. Password recovery, suspended accounts and provider outages must go through the email provider's official process. We cannot bypass account security or guarantee recovery of deleted messages.
