Printer offline after changing your modem?
If your printer worked before you changed the modem, start with its connection. Your laptop may already be on the new Wi-Fi while the printer still has the old network details saved. An offline message does not necessarily mean the printer is broken.
1. Check the printer itself
Turn the printer on and look at its display for a paper jam, empty tray or other error. If its own test page will not print, deal with that message first. A Wi-Fi change will not fix a physical paper-feed problem.
2. Reconnect to the current Wi-Fi
Use the printer's wireless setup menu or its manufacturer's official instructions to select your current network. Check the network name carefully and enter the Wi-Fi password on the device. Do not put the password into a callback form.
Connect your computer to the same home network. A guest network can keep devices apart. If the printer cannot see the network, check its supported Wi-Fi bands in the manufacturer's instructions rather than changing router settings at random.
3. Try one small print job
After reconnecting, restart the printer normally and try a single-page document. Check that you have selected the correct printer, especially if there are several similarly named entries. On Windows, the printer troubleshooter can help identify a connection or queue problem.
When to ask for help
Avoid factory-resetting the router or repeatedly reinstalling software before you know what has failed. Note the printer make, model and exact error message.
